Hello and welcome to My Cottage Pretties !....I have been in and out of the "antique business" for years, mostly because it is so much fun, but more honestly, because it always gives me an excuse for stopping at yard sales, going to auctions, flea markets, estate and moving sales... always, always on the lookout for the perfect treasure to keep or to offer up for sale....Along the way though I have made some decisions about what I gather....for too many years I bought items because I thought they were "good" pieces, but not necessarily aesthetically pleasing to me, but appealing to a certain group of collectors....however, I just don't do that anymore...because if I don't sell it, Yikes! I have to keep it, or give it away....so....now, I buy and collect only what I love and hope that it is as beautiful to others as it is to me....
I have also painted for years, and have in the past sold some of my pieces to a large gift shop with several stores in my area.....but because I have so many interests, gardening being my most ardent, I drifted away from the painting....but recently I began painting again and will be offering some hand painted items for sale along with my other "pretties"...I love to paint scenes on small functional pieces, especially of children or scenes from the past and hope that you will enjoy them as much as I do....Joanne
